While they look dainty, the shooting stars come up year after year on the loop trail, in the same general area, right in the road. You can mow them off, drive over them, hike over them and they still appear every spring. The plants have a crown that sits just above the soil and it stays intact all year long. The shooting stars bloom for just a short period and we think they are special. If you get to see the flower you can pick just one!

For a couple of weeks in early May, the violets are the stars of the show.  They carpet the yard and line the trails, and make lots of smiles in May Baskets and Mothers Day bouquets.
