these will be the last photos of the winter season for this year. These shots are from a couple of weeks ago. We had lots of snow and I guess that you could say that we were snowed-in. Anyway, it gave me time to get out and tromp around a bit. So that was fun!

Here’s the sign from on the old Hwy 15, now County YZ. It’s a one-sided sign and I think that it faced the west, you’d see it if you were driving from Dodgeville. We still have it in storage and will be working on getting it displayed outside. We’d like to build get a little “info center” at the top of the canyon road. We’d use the sign to point the way!
Here are a few photos (note: 4-Oaks point in the background in a couple of shots!) of a cable that’s been attached to this maple tree for a looooong time. The thick cable is wrapped around the tree and is also attached to a small iron wood tree, then runs up the hill through the leaf litter (and snow) for about 40 yards. I guess that it was installed as a guard rail when all of the campers drove to their sites. Check it out when you go around “the loop”, it’s a landmark. It’s near 4-Oaks point and is attached to the maple right at the top of the major deer trail that goes to the canyon floor.
Some maps still show the portion of Canyon Park Road that winds down into the canyon. Nevertheless, there’s no traffic, just a few deer and hikers.
